Beer Tour / Salzburg-Budweis-Pilsen-Prague-Berlin

1st day / Arrival Salzburg

Arrive at Munich airport to be met by your tour manager and bus driver, than continue to Salzburg. (Please note that the program for the first day is dependent upon your arrival time.)

Welcome to Salzburg - the city of Mozart's birth!

Salzburg is located in the Salzach River Valley. Unique due to the power of the Prince Archbishops and its importance during the Holy Roman Empire and the baroque, it came to be called the northern Rome.
Salzburg's reputation today is based on a living musical tradition, and its beauty and vibrant musical life have made it one of Europe's foremost cultural centres.
 
Check in to your hotel and then make a first orientation tour with your tour manager.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

After dinner you'll visit the famous Augustiner Bräu in Salzburg and enjoy the typical atmosphere of this brewery and its tavern.

2nd day / Salzburg

Breakfast at your hotel.

Enjoy a half day tour of the city on foot.
You'll see the historical old town, the cathedral, the Pegasus Fountain, the Mirabell Gardens and Mozart's Birthhouse, then take the cable railway up to the fortress.

In the afternoon you'll visit the Stiegl Brewery (Salzburg's largest),

take a guided tour through the brewery and learn about how beer is made.

3rd day / Salzburg

Breakfast at your hotel.

Today you'll take an excursion to the salt mines in Hallein, then visit the Celtic museum there.

Explore the world of the "white gold" at Salzburg salt mines

Visit the salt mine of Hallein, where salt has been mined since the time that Celtic tribes settled the area. Salt was the most important source of income for the Salzburg Prince Archbishops. The collection of the Keltenmuseum in Hallein demonstrates the importance of salt to this area with artefacts from the Celtic period to the Habsburgs. You'll have great fun sliding down the wooden slides, taking a boat on the salt lake and exploring other aspects of the mine.

On your way back to Salzburg, you'll take a guided tour of the brewery in Kaltenhausen.

In the late afternoon you'll make an excursion to and take a guided tour through the Trumer Brewery in Obertrum, followed by a special dinner including beer sampling.

4th day / Cesky Budejovice

Breakfast and checkout.

Today you'll continue your travels to Cesky Budejovice, a city famous for its beer.
You'll arrive in Cesky Budejovice and take a short orientation tour with your tour manager.

In the afternoon a guided tour of the original  Budweiser Beer Company.
Surrounded by the aroma of the Moravian malt and Žatec hops you will delve into the secrets of how the world famous Budweiser Budvar lager is made. You will find out how domestic ingredients of the best quality, water drawn from the brewery's deep wells (more than 300 meters) and top-class brewer's yeast are used to make the beer (characterised by the pleasant aroma of hops, its slightly sweet and delicate taste and its bitterness) that is popular with customers in 58 countries all over the world. The nostalgic beauty of the machinery on display will remind you of the rich tradition of the brewer's art in South Bohemia, going back to the 13th century. These centuries of tradition are incorporated in the modern technology producing the Original Czech Premium Lager Budweiser Budvar.

5th day / Cesky Budejovice-Prague

Breakfast,  then the trip on to Prague where you'll check into your hotel.

Welcome to Prague - the capital of the Czech Republic

Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. Two of the nicknames for Prague are "city of a hundred spires" and "the golden city", and this historic city of golden stone and architectural grace offers a mix of medieval, renaissance, baroque and rococo treasures.
Since 1992, the historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world.

Enjoy a ½ day guided tour of the city.
You will be taken on the classic Prague tour and visit the Prague Castle, St. Veit's Cathedral, the Castle district with the Golden Lane, and the Charles Bridge and finish at the Old Square with the Powder Tower and the astronomical clock.

In the evening you'll take a special Dinner Boat cruise.

6th day / Pilsen

Breakfast at your hotel, then a full day excursion to Plzen - home to one of the world's most famous beers!

Welcome to Pilsen

Pilsen (German: Pilsen; Plzeň or Plzen are also used in English) is a city in western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It is the capital of the Plzeň region and the fourth most populous city in the Czech Republic. It is located about 90 km west of Prague at the confluence of four rivers (Radbuza, Mže, Úhlava, and Úslava), which join to form the Berounka River.

You'll take a guided tour through the Pilsner brewery including the exhibition (with a film showing the history of the company) and the packaging plant where 60,000 bottles are filled and packed for shipping every hour. The tour ends in the cellars of the brewery, where you can sample the product about which you've just learned.

Afterwards visit the city of Pilsen and explore on your own. You can visit the 2nd largest synagogue in Europe (after the one in Budapest), St. Bartholomäus Cathedral, the houses with Sgraffitti paintings (below) or stroll through the historical city of Pilsen.

Return to Prague and have dinner at a local restaurant.

7th day / Prague-Berlin

Breakfast.

Today you'll travel to Berlin, the capital city of Germany, stopping en route in Dresden to visit and tour the small Feldschlößchen brewery, famous for their Pilsner beer.

In the afternoon, continue on to Berlin.

Berlin is the capital and seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany. As a city state Berlin is also counted as one of the states of the Federal Republic and forms the center of the metropolitan region Berlin/Brandenburg. It has the largest area and is the most densely populated city in Germany and by population the second largest city in the European Union.

Arrive at your hotel in Berlin, then undertake a first orientation tour with your tour manager.

8th day / Berlin

Breakfast at your hotel.

Afterwards, a visit to the Pergamon Museum.

Lunch and the afternoon on your own - visit the Checkpoint Charlie Museum or some  of the many other sights of this vibrant city. You could also try the famous "Currywurst" (sausage springled with curry).

9th day / Berlin

Breakfast at your hotel.

In the morning, a guided tour through the Berliner brewery "Berliner Kindl"
After the tour you can sample the beer and have a traditional German snack - the "Bockwurst".

Take the afternoon off to stroll through the city or do some shopping.

10th day / Departure


Breakfast at your hotel, checkout, then the transfer to Berlin airport for your trip home.
